About the role:

As the Senior Events Manager, you will be instrumental in the success of our events and pivotal in leading and inspiring our team to excellence! You will lead the development of the annual event strategy and budget and will enroll The Forum’s leadership team and key cross-functional partners in the process to ensure alignment and support. You will execute a diverse portfolio of in-person, virtual, and hybrid events, including our largest annual fundraising gala, and will manage the Events Team, contract event planners, and external vendors. You will play a critical part in ensuring we meet programming and fundraising goals, while ensuring seamless event delivery aligned with organizational strategies and priorities.

What you’ll experience as a team member:

  • Salary range is $80,000 - $90,000 CAD, commensurate with your experience.

We are a fully remote team with occasional in-person team meetings or co-working days, depending on your location (Canada only). You will be responsible for:

  • Lead on the development of the annual event strategy and budget, building the plan based on key strategies and departmental plans.

  • Planning and execution of a diverse annual events calendar, including conferences, fundraising events, community activations.

  • Manage the end-to-end delivery of in-person, virtual, and hybrid events, ensuring each aligns with organizational goals, brand standards, and audience needs.

  • Lead the planning and execution of our annual fundraising gala, The Odlum Brown Forum Pitch Finale, a high-profi le event of over 800 attendees.

  • Manage the planning and delivery of live and online auctions at The Odlum Brown Forum Pitch Finale, with responsibility for meeting fundraising targets and enhancing donor engagement.

  • Manage and mentor the Event Manager, setting priorities, providing feedback, supporting their growth, and ensuring role clarity across the events portfolio.

  • Foster a high-performing, collaborative event team culture, ensuring shared accountability for event goals and successful execution.

  • Develop and oversee individual event budgets, ensuring cost-effective decision-making while maximizing impact and ROI.

  • Collaborate on attendee strategy, and oversee RSVP and guest list management for events, ensuring a smooth and professional guest experience from invitation through follow-up.

  • Identify, negotiate, and manage relationships with external vendors, venues, contractors, and partners.

  • Manage relationships with external event management companies, ensuring alignment with organizational goals, timelines, and standards.

  • Collaborate closely with internal teams to ensure event integration with broader campaigns and initiatives.

  • Ensure all events are delivered with excellence in logistics, accessibility, guest experience, and post-event evaluation.

  • Lead on event risk assessment and mitigation strategies, including health & safety and contingency planning.

  • Monitor and evaluate event performance, gathering data, feedback, and insights to inform future planning and continuous improvement.

  • Represent the organization at key events and act as an ambassador for its mission and values.

  • Other tasks as required.

What you bring to the table:

  • You have 8+ years of experience in event management, including end-to-end ownership of large-scale or complex events.

  • You have experience leading and mentoring a team, with the ability to delegate effectively, give clear direction, and support professional development.

  • You are a strategic thinker who can align event goals with broader organizational objectives.

  • You have strong organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple events simultaneously.

  • You work independently and manage multiple moving pieces with dynamic priorities.

  • You take full ownership of outcomes, proactively share progress, and address challenges as they arise.

  • You lead cross-functional collaboration and coordinate confidently with vendors, partners, and internal stakeholders.

  • You communicate clearly and effectively, both in writing and verbally, and practice clarity, transparency, and diplomacy in all interactions.

  • You thrive in a digital team environment and communicate effectively across remote channels.

  • You’re fluent in project management platforms, CRM systems, and virtual/hybrid event tools. You bring others up to speed as needed and quickly adapt to new technology platforms.
